This is a Sterling Silver .925 and Brass brooch with a bezel mounted Tagua nut – also known as Vegetable Ivory.
A hand etched scene 'Blackbird Song' is set with japanese ink. Every item of jewellery is one of a kind. The brooch is formed after I have created my 'miniature' scene based on landscapes and forms that inspire me and is designed as it is constructed.
Pieces that are often constructed with the inclusion of Brass will always be laquered to prevent tarnish.
Care information: To keep your silver clean, wipe with a silver jewellery cloth or clean with warm soapy water - please refrain from submerging the Tagua nut as this may effect the scrimshaw ink and will get paler with additional cleaning.
Each item is handmade and will come with inconsistencies, they will not have the same finish as machined store bought jewellery - hopefully this will add to it's enjoyment but if you are not happy with an item please feel free to return withing 14 days and I will offer a full refund.

Tagua nuts are finished with a beeswax polish which can be reapplied every 1-2 years should you wish. If needed the jewellery can be washed in warm soapy water.
